Behind Blue Eyes [Pickles/Jinx]

Her heart thudded deep in her chest like a bass drum, rang heavily in her ears, and blocked out all noises of the night- yet she continued to run deeper and deeper into the velvet darkness in front of her, crashing through the edge of a nearby forest without any hesitation.

Her icy blue eyes were unadjusted to the nighttime sky that even the welcoming dull white light of the full moon in the sky couldn’t seem to break through the dark veil around her. Yet she continued to run, virtually almost unaware of her own surroundings.

It was almost as if she was running for her life.

The patches of white light - slowly and eerily turning red from the lunar eclipse scheduled to happen only seconds from now- that barely were able to make it through the gigantic treetops above, revealing beautiful ruby droplets on her pale skin- blood.

Though only little of it was her own, almost none of it belonged to her nor the thing she was running from- but the victim that the monster managed to sink its teeth deep into. She had tried to save the poor girl's life- and only ended up getting hurt herself. She could still feel the huge cut, that of a blade perhaps, between her breast, gushing the hot sticky liquid down her chest and stomach, coating the front of her long beautiful red dress in strange crimson patterns.


She had completely forgotten about it.

'Alu~' She could almost hear the strange voice of her brother whispering in her ear. 'Come back... I want to be with you, Alu.~ Please... come back to me, don't leave me on my birthday.' The girl shuddered and managed to somehow gather up the energy to bolt even faster through the thickets and trees of the woods, memories flashing behind her eyes as she ran.

They were new to town, just had moved. Her brother had met a strange male... he had taken a liking to him, and Alu herself remained friendless a bit shy she still hadn't exactly managed to open up to the people of the town. But Alestier as charming as could be had quickly made friends. Not even a month or two had passed, Ally- the nickname of her brother- had invited said friends over....

She shut her eyes tight trying to burn out the next images that ran through her head;

An all out brutal massacre of every last one of them.

Eyes shut, the finally managed to burst through a clearing deep inside the heart of the forest- and right into the thorns of the nearby thorn trees seeming to protect the clearing, lodging herself deep in the fresh green vines of the tree, black thorns ripping into her flesh and almost nailing her to the spot. Alu thrashed and struggling hissing in pain, yet no tears fell from her eyes only unknowingly making her situation even worse.

"Fuck!" She cried out into the night, snarling as she continued to fight with the vines that held her firm on the spot. She yanked, pulled, and tugged with all her might and yet the more she struggled the deeper and deeper the thorns seemed to dig into her skin until finally it hurt to bad to move and like a trapped exhausted animal she finally went still, panting as blood began to coat her beautiful pale skin.

She hung her head in defeat, realizing that in the fight with a tree she had managed to somehow lose- and it was downright embarrassing. Yet being this deep in the woods- who would even find her out here??

Hours seemed to pass, the soft fall wind caressing her cheek enough to wake her up out of her near-doze like a teasing hand of a lover. She could smell rain coming in the fresh air, sense it by the way the wind would pick up the red and golden leaves in a miniature tornado.

"... Really?" She huffed in exasperation, her voice hoarse and worn, but ultimately too tired to fight she remained.

The moon slid in and out between the clouds now, leaving patches red-orange light racing across the ground like the light of a flashlight and sometimes that light while dancing through the dark, would land and stay right on poor Alu trapped in the vines of the twisting tree.

Her long, beautiful, now matted red hair glowing from the light almost made it turn an almost impossible rose red, pale icy, determined blue eyes glistening and dancing with fire as a single streak of crimson red blood traced down a cut across her face from one of the fines, onto her long flowing red gown to merge with the crimson at her breast.

Alu would almost come across as a mythical being trapped in the heart of the forest....

It had another long night working at the bar (helping a friend), and already she could tell it was only going to get worse. Her feet ached and screamed from how long she had been walking. Like an idiot, she had decided to cut through the park to get home, a normal routine for her. Yet, tonight she had wandered off the path.

Something had caught her attention off in the wooded area of the park. Instead of listening to her gut and staying on the path she let curiousity get the best of her. She followed whatever it was that had caught her attention.

For the last three hours, she has been wandering aimlessly through the woods. Trees branches and other things kept catching her brown hair, finally succeeding in ripping out her clippy. Her jeans were ripped a little from where she had fallen down a hill a couple miles back. Her poor shirt was stained from the mud and grass. Yet, she kept going straight, knowing that she was heading the right way.

"Way to go, Rin. Nice move," she scolded herself, emerald eyes darting around nervously. It was getting later and later. If she didn't get out soon, the animals would here since it was getting close to the hour they all came out.

Sighing, the events of the day played through her mind as she walked. As always, her dear friend Damian called her to help him out at his bar. Rin being only a young girl until 21 worked under the table. It was a good job and she made friends. But today was different. There was news about some of the new people here. Everyday, someone new was talked about. That's how it was here at this bar.

It still amazed her that the bar people even had time toget to know their neighbors with how much they drank all the time. But it really shouldn't surprise her. The bar was where people went to drown out their every day life.

Some shrubs near Rin rustled and shook, startling her and causing her to scream and run off in the opposite direction. Courage was never her strong suite. She ran for a few minutes before stopping and sitting down next to a tree, looking around a little bit. She wondered when she would be reach the end.

The night seemed to drift in and out between the clouds, the moon slowly slinking further and further back behind the trees. Everything was quiet, too quiet, EXTREMELY quiet. It was beginning to gnaw on her nerves, too much silence always meant something terrible...

Yet, the longer she waited for her psychotic brother to burst through the brush and slice her up from head to toe like he had done his latest victim- the more and more she began to realize that everything was as it should be, her simple rush of adrenaline had been circulating fast enough to cause a hefty load of paranoia to take over.

Yet she was so over being caught up in those damn prickly thorns-!

Alu had just let out a long sigh of exasperation when the rustling of brush around her startled her and forced a low growled curse out of her throat. She didn't know what lurked in these woods, much less what kind of animals would appreciate a nice easy snack tied up in a pretty little bow for it.

She began struggling harder forcing everything around her to shake and move in an effort to scare away whatever had been close- and apparently had succeeded.

It had been a girl- and she had let out a heart stopping, blood curling scream.

"... Fuck, can tonight get any worse?" She hugged before quickly yelling out at the top of her lungs;

"No, no wait! I'm not going to hurt you! Please... come back! I uh... might need some help here! You know... been hanging here for a few hours now- it isn't too comfortable.." She paused.

"Please? Please don't be gone..." There went her only possibility to escape and find a place to stay tonight, with a nice shower... and food, oh the thought of food made her stomach growl.

"Crap..."

The sound of a voice calling out from where Rin had ran from caused her to freeze up. Someone else was out here this late at night? Who in their right mind, other than herself, would be out here? It did not make any sense

Slowly standing up and keeping to the darkest parts of the trees and shadows, Rin made her way back to where she had run from. Heart pounding loudly in her chest and everything in her screaming for her to turn right back around. Yet, even the most cowardly could have their curiosity piqued and hers was definitely caught.

The entire walk, which was taking longer than she wanted, she was kicking herself. She should be home, taking a long hot shower before getting ready to watch her favorite series, Sherlock. But nooo, she had to turn back around and see what had scared her and then called out to her. It had sounded like a female.

With a sigh, she peeped her head around a tree and gasped at the sight front her. There was the most beautiful female she had ever seen, caught and looking as if she was terribly hurt. How badly, Rin couldn't tell but if the blood making its way down her arms and legs were anything to go by, she was pretty banged.

"H-Hello?" she called out quietly, watching the female's reaction carefully. If she so much as moved aggressively, Rin was planning on running straight home, bolting the door, and arming herself with her baseball bat. Yup, she was going to be one mean short person with a bat.

Alu waited- impatiently mind you- for the voice to possibly return with a pricked ear, straining against all the night sounds to try and pick out possible human footsteps. As every second ticked by she could virtually hear the clock ticking down in her head, the clock of her own insanity and impatience. She was about to fucking lose her mind-

Until finally she caught the sound of faint steps off in the distance- heading her direction and coming even closer. In fact her head almost instantly perked up the moment the brushes began moving around her. Alu's blue eyes narrowed as she tried to lean in a bit closer to see who it was- cringing as the vines only strangled her veins tighter, driving the thorns in deeper-

Until a girl stepped out into the moonlight.

It bathed her like a silver veil, wrapping itself around her and her beautiful hair. Her eyes glowed from the light almost giving her herself a mythical and dream-like appearance. For a moment Alu had to truly question her sanity and bloodloss- maybe she was simply exhausted and seeing things-?

Yet the moment she spoke, almost instantly the woman snapped out of it and shook her head, trying to knock herself back into reality.

"H-hey!" She gently- but slowly in fear of causing her to run away- pulled at the vines again to prove her point as she spoke; "Listen... can... you help me? I'm... not exactly used to these part of the woods and.. like a douchebag, got myself caught in these damn thorns..." SHe offered a weak smile and chuckled lightly.

"I'll owe ya one, if ya help me down...?" She paused before quickly adding with a nod of her red head-

"Anything."

All Rin could do was stare at the red-headed female before her. She was absolutely breathtaking. Even being restrained did not take away from her beauty. It just seemed to enhance it, though the blood dripping from her body did take away from it a little. Yet, it helped calm Rin down. This woman was obviously in no condition to hurt Rin or even herself.

"H-How did you get caught l-l-like th-that?" she asked nervously while cautiously approaching the other female. Everything in her was on edge. Something was not right about this. Why was this girl out here if she said that she didn't know this area?

Dropping the bag that had been on her back onto the ground, Rin began to dig around for her survival knife. It was a good thing that after living her for as long as she has been that she learned this was the best thing to do. She could feel the rope that was wrapped around the knife's handle brush against the sensitive flesh of her hand. Finally, now she could get the female down.

Already the coolness of the night air was seeping through the thin fabric of her long-sleeved shirt. Her jeans were beginning to become cold due to the water that was soaking them. Great, even better. She had to get that girl down soon and get home so she can change before she became ill. And THAT was all she needed.

With an annoyed grunt, she stood up straight and brushed some of the mud off of her knees. "I'm going to help you out of those vines, alright? Don't do anything funny, or you'll regret it," she said with more confidence than she felt and was in absolute shock at how steady her voice was. At least she wasn't running for the hills like she wanted to!
